What will I be qualified for?

Despite a lot of fun, most of the courses in the Adventure Component are either aligned to the NQF or result in a recognised Certificate of Competency that has value in the workplace.

For example the Mountain Walking Guide certification that is included in the Mountain Hiking component will enable Posties on graduation to officially lead Berg Hikes while the Abseiling Supervisory Guide certification will give them a base qualification for adventure-based tourism or a training centre.

The Career Entry components assume that Posties have gone through the normal process of school guidance, aptitude testing and assessments.

On this platform Posties spend time brainstorming various options regarding potential careers, pinpointing their strengths and creating a meaningful career file that will have practical use in job hunting.

CVs and application letters are crafted over the year, tips for interviewing processes are reviewed and Posties get to do a work week in a chosen career.

The course components like the ICDL (International Computer Driving License) and the Advanced First Aid course are aimed at providing useful and/or essential skills for the workplace – any workplace.

At the same time the components are structured in such a way as to allow Posties to supplement the theory of what they are learning with opportunities to put it into practice.

Learning for Life includes components aimed at training that has application in life generally and not only in relation to a career choice. Useful Life Skills such as instructing others in a confident fashion; keeping physically fit and eating wisely; managing one’s personal finances with acumen and know-how; presenting oneself appropriately and appreciating the importance of relationships in the world of work are taught through the various components.
