I started my studies at Stellenbosch University in 2010, doing my undergraduate in a Sports Science degree majoring in psychology, I also specialised in Disabilities in my final year. We worked practically with a patient in this year and I really loved this, I am still in contact with his mom and his rehabilitation progress. I then continued studying up at the University of Zululand, doing a BSc honours in Biokinetics. We did a lot of practical work at the various biokinetic practices in the area and the surrounding hospitals. At the end of my honours I was awarded DUX of 2013. This was such an awesome award to receive and for all the hard work to pay off.
After my studies, I continued with my internship under Jimmy Wright, working at Senior Sharks, Prime Human Performance Institute, Centre for Sport Medicine Umhlanga Hospital and Sharks Medical. This was such an amazing experience for me, I love rugby and have such a passion for the sport, to be in the environment day in and day out was incredible.
After my internship I moved to Hilton and worked for Morne Booysen, after a year I then went into partnership with him and I now practice from Hilton, I have been in private practice for 3 years. I have developed an interest in chronic diseases and rehabilitation of these, as well as working with the younger population and sports injuries.
I started working at Treverton in May 2017 and have thoroughly enjoyed being at the school and being able to really work with the kids and with the entire medical staff as a whole team towards ensuring the best treatment for the children right on their doorstep. Seeing their progress and being able to watch them get stronger, injury free and get back onto the field is my ultimate. I think it is so imperative to get to any underlying problems, postural issues and injuries as soon as possible, being able to attend to all these problems while patients are still young, makes for the best outcome.
