History was made at Treverton on Monday 11 September 2017!
The whole school gathered on the ridge next to the pool enclosure with a magnificent view of Giant’s Castle. What was the big occasion? For the first time ever, the Grade 10 group will not only summit the mighty Drakensberg – they will also journey all the way to the mountain by bicycle, by boat and on foot!
There was much nervous anticipation amongst the Grade 10’s as the departure ceremony got underway. Expectant eyes flickered in the direction of ‘the Giant’ as the Head boy and Head girl – Jacques Wessels and Lutho Dabula – spoke words of encouragement to the group.
After a short explanation of the philosophy behind this new venture from College Headmaster, Mr Dave Cato, and a prayer of protection and encouragement by the School Chaplain Rev Gareth Friend, they were off! As they snaked their way down the road between lines of cheering Trevertonians, a feeling of great promise settled on those remaining as we imagined the possibilities that this great adventure would awaken in each participant.
