Treverton Equestrian Centre…Passion, Trust, Respect, Confidence Safety and Results.
At the end of a tree-lined avenue on Treverton’s 260 ha estate is the schools’ internationally recognised Equestrian Centre. It also borders on the Treverton Wildlife Area, where zebras graze harmoniously with horses stabled at the centre and gaze nonchalantly at the visitors driving past them.
At the bend in the road, the stables are to the left. There is always activity there in the afternoons as the young riders prepare their mounts for an afternoon ride or a lesson in one of the Equestrian disciplines offered by the schools’ qualified instructors.
To the left is the well-equipped internationally recognised Equestrian Centre with a breathless backdrop of the Midlands’ rolling hills. The centre has three jumping arenas, two full-size dressage arenas, a lunge ring and cross-country tracks, 60 to 3* including a challenging water-jump. The stables are able to accommodate 32-horses and there are 14 large electrified paddocks.
Horse riding and its associated disciplines were offered to the first 51- pupils at the school and in the past half-century it has become a popular school sport, and the Equestrian Centre has become a major national horse-riding event venue.
Visitors to the school are often able to enjoy the sight of the riders on outrides on the extensive campus. A favourite spot for riders and their mounts is the College dam, where the horses enjoy the opportunity of an “afternoon dip” and for the riders, an opportunity to apply their equestrian skills in water.
Treverton riders compete at inter-house, inter-school, local, provincial, national and international levels and a number of students have achieved honours at International level.
