Treverton Gauteng Parent's Association (TGPA)

Pro-Active Parents in Partnership and Participation

The TGPA's purpose is to encourage and facilitate interaction between parents and the schools as well as raise funds for the College and the Prep with special emphasis on the needs of boarders.

Opportunities for Interaction

The TGPA hosts a number of regular functions during the year which are designed to give parents the opportunity to hear from the school heads and to chat informally with the headmasters and teachers.

The Eating Meeting

On the 14th March 2010 the TGPA held it's annual TGPA Eating Meeting in Chartwell, Fourways.  We had just over 70 parents and staff from the College and Prep.  We were given an update from the College and the Prep on how the new pupils have settled down and were introduced to Senior Deputy Headmaster, Dean Balie.

It was a wonderful opportunity for all the Gauteng parents to meet and chat with the teachers and other parents on an informal basis.

A big thanks to Noel Coetzee (Executive Head), Graham Nolan (College Headmaster), Dean Balie (Senior Deputy Headmaster) and Mark Chaperon (Prep Headmaster) for taking the time to drive up to Gauteng with all their staff on a Sunday. It is really apprecited by the Gauteng parents.  Lastly thanks to Sharon Lansdell and her Mom Thelma for hosting us!

The Interactive AGM Evening

This is an AGM with a difference - informal, informative and to the point.
The College and Prep headmasters as well as the Executive Head give a quick review of the year and answer questions.
Come and participate in this important evening.

The TGPA runs two services for the benefit of the parents and children.

The Parcel Service

The parcel service coordinates the sending of parcels with parents going down during term time. It is specifically for those small forgotten items or unexpected treats. No bikes, trunks, horses etc. Just small parcels that are easy to fit into a family sized car!
The cost is R20.00 per packet (money goes into the fundraising kitty).

Please let us know when you are going down to Mooi River in order for the parcel service to work efficiently.

Gauteng Bus Duty

One of the TGPA committee members is always on duty to meet the bus and see that all the children are collected. Please do not abuse this. The teachers who accompany your children still need to make the return trip back to the school and the committee member wants to spend time with their child.
Please allow for the heavy afternoon traffic when judging your arrival time!

It is the responsibility of the parents to clarify departure and arrival times. Bus cell is 082 263 5336 or phone the school secretary on 033 263 1251.
The bus arrives and departs from the Rosebank Union Church, cnr William Nicol Drive and St Andrews Road, Hurlingham.

What are the funds used for?

The primary focus is on the boarders in both the College and Prep. In previous years each boarding house has created a wish list and items have been purchased to match that. These extras help make the boarding houses as comfy as possible for all the children whether from Gauteng or elsewhere.

In 2007 a large investment was made in audio visual equipment for the theatre in the Alan Staples Centre.

Support the Treverton Gauteng Parents Association and in so doing support your children!!
