Treverton Gauteng Parent's Association (TGPA)

Pro-Active Parents in Partnership and Participation

The TGPA's purpose is to encourage and facilitate interaction between parents and the schools as well as raise funds for the College and the Prep with special emphasis on the needs of boarders.

Opportunities for Interaction

The TGPA hosts a number of regular functions during the year which are designed to give parents the opportunity to hear from the school heads and to chat informally with the headmasters and teachers.

The Eating Meeting

In March 2011 the annual TGPA Eating Meeting was held at the Organic market in Bryanston. We had fantastic support from our parents who were joined by staff from the College and Prep. Whilst enjoying a wonderful picnic parents were given an update from the College and the Prep on how the new pupils have settled down, plans for upcoming year and other topics of a general nature.  It was a fantastic opportunity for all the Gauteng parents to meet and chat with the teachers and other parents on an informal basis.

A big thanks to Noel Coetzee (Executive Head), Graham Nolan (College Headmaster), Dean Balie (Senior Deputy Headmaster) and Mark Chaperon (Prep Headmaster) for taking the time to drive up to Gauteng with all their staff on a Sunday. It is really apprecited by the Gauteng parents.

Social Fundraisers

Thank you to all Gauteng Parents and friends who turned up for "Girls Wanna Rock", an evening of fun and entertainment at the Barnyard, Cresta in September.  The evening was a resounding success and monies raised went towards the funding of the Dorm Wish Lists for Treverton College and Prep boarding houses.  Thank you to everyone who supported this event!

During the year the TGPA organizes one or more fun, fundraising activities. Watch this space for all the details of upcoming events in 2012!

What are the funds used for?

The primary focus is on boarding at both the College and the Prep.  In previous years, each boarding house created their own "wish list" and funds raise allocated accordingly.  These extras help to make the boarding houses as comfortable as possible for all the children in boarding at Treverton.  In 2007 a large investment was made towards audio visual equipment for the Theatre in the Alan Staples Centre.

Support the Treverton Gauteng Parents Association and in so doing support your children!

Our regular, ongoing fundraiser is the 250 Club

The TGPA runs two services for the benefit of the parents and children.

The Parcel Service

The parcel service coordinates the sending of parcels with parents going down during term time. It is specifically for those small forgotten items or unexpected treats. No bikes, trunks, horses etc. Just small parcels that are easy to fit into a family sized car!
The cost is R30.00 per packet (money goes into the fundraising kitty).

Please let us know when you are going down to Mooi River in order for the parcel service to work efficiently.

Gauteng Bus Duty

Please allow for the heavy afternoon traffic when judging your arrival time and remember that the teachers who accompany your children still need to make the return trip back to school.

It is the responsibility of the parents to clarify departure and arrival times. Bus cell is 082 074 1098 or phone the school secretary on 033 263 1251.
The bus arrives and departs from the Rosebank Union Church, cnr William Nicol Drive and St Andrews Road, Hurlingham.
