There are active Treverton Parent Associations in both Gauteng (TGPA) and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN PA) staffed by annually-elected parent volunteers and headed by Chairs who are invited to sit on the Board of Governors. The primary aim of these Associations is to keep channels of communication open, ensuring that parent concerns are addressed in the correct forums.
The Parent Associations also play a valuable role in fundraising - donating each year to the school those little extras which are not covered by school fees, but which make our pupils lives more comfortable.
- The 250 Club is an easy way to contribute. Parents are invited to join the 250 Club by contacting one of the TGPA representatives.. The cost of this is just R50 a month and puts members into a monthly draw for first, second and third cash prizes.
- The Gauteng Parent Association (TGPA) launched the MySchool card in 2003. In the past, the Marketing department at Treverton took the liberty of ordering cards for all new parents so that the school could benefit from this very easy fundraiser. However with the new Credit Act, each parent now needs to make an application directly to MySchool. We would encourage anyone who hasn't yet got a MySchool card to go online to www.myschool.co.za and fill in an electronic form. They will send a card directly. There is no cost to the parent. The money raised goes towards capital development on campus and so is very gratefully received by Treverton.
- TGPA also runs a parcel service to and from Treverton, enabling parents to send small items, tuck and essential bits and pieces to their pupils. The cost of this is R20 per parcel, which must be delivered to a central point in Johannesburg.
- The KwaZulu-Natal Parent Association (KZNPA) is primarily responsible for one of the schools biggest fundraisers - the Bundu which is held in August of each year. Look out for information concerning this fun family day!
The Associations also arrange regular get-togethers and full details will be advertised in the Trev-E-News (the weekly E-mail to parents and friends of Treverton).
The Parent Associations are always in need of parents to sit on the committees so if this sounds like you, please be in touch.
