Every year the College invites Grade 6s and 7s to Sleepover over the course of a weekend. The purpose of the Sleepover is to expose pupils to a taste of Boarding, show them the campus and meet the staff and pupils. We believe that in the case of College Boarding, a few hours for an Open Day just isn’t enough to make an informed decision. There are two Sleepovers per year, one in March and the other in September, giving more opportunity to find a weekend that suits you!
Below is an outline for the weekend – the specifics of which may change but you will be notified of the full programme in advance of the weekend.
Saturday 5th September
Registration will take place at the Alan Staples Centre (Theatre) on the College Campus at 14h00. Please do not drop and go! Parents and children will be treated to a Taste of Culture with the music and drama departments providing a variety of performances in the Theatre and Theatre foyer. Following a short welcome from Kean Broom, the College Headmaster, we will begin our Walking Tour. The focus here is to show a glimpse of Art, the excitement of Science, the energy of Electronics (with a practical exercise for all to take home), as well as our English and Afrikaans departments. All sleepover guests are integrated into the usual boarding dinner, following which they will have an exciting time in the Hudson Reed Hall with a team building activity as well as exposure to some rock climbing. Parents, you are invited to join us for a light drink and snacks in the Treverton Wildlife Area when your children leave for shower time. This provides a chance to speak to staff and management while enjoying the natural surroundings.
Sunday 6th September
The day starts with a simple breakfast for our visitors at 08h00 followed by a special programme including an amazing race/challenge exposing them to the adventurous side of the school. We include games at the dam and equestrian aspects (all weather dependent) before they head up for a brunch at 11h30. Collection and signing out takes place at the Hudson Reed Hall from 12h00.
