English philosopher Dean William Inge described the aim of education as: “the knowledge, not of facts, but of values“.
It has been the fundamental aim of Treverton, from its inception, to provide what it does with values that are centrally focused around a strong Christian Ethos.
Treverton therefore aims to encourage pupils to reach their fullest potential academically, to develop to their highest level of sporting excellence and also to nurture a third important area – the spiritual aspect.
To provide a balanced all-round quality education based on a strong Christian foundation
A word from our Chaplain:
Mr Gareth Friend
At Treverton we are serious about providing a balanced all-round quality education based on a strong Christian foundation. Our motto is “super astra spero” meaning to ‘reach beyond the stars’, or better yet, to ‘hope beyond the stars’. God offers each one a living hope in this life through the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3). We are to point pupils in Christ’s direction so that their hope is not placed in material prosperity, but firmly grounded in this ‘living hope’ which reaches far beyond the stars. It is a real joy to encounter Jesus everyday within a school context. Education is important; learning about Jesus through the avenue of education is a tremendous blessing and privilege. It is our vision that every pupil would be firmly grounded in God’s Word, well-educated, and be people who will add great value in society. We strive to live a real faith in real life, every day.
